Learning at Abercorn
Children follow the Early Years Foundation stage curriculum (EYFS) from Nursery to Reception, which encompasses seven areas of learning
The GCSE years should be viewed as a stepping stone into a variety of deeper learning opportunities while pupils mature into the next stages of their personal, as well as academic growth.
From an early age, Abercorn pupils develop critical core skills and confidence in Maths and English, providing a foundation for life long learning.
From Drama to Music and Visual Art, The Arts are an integral part of life at Abercorn and pupils are encouraged to express themselves across subjects and medium.
STEM subjects at Abercorn include Design & Technology, Computing and Science. Through a combination of creative and scientific methodology, pupils are encouraged to problem solve, reason, create and learn across these core subjects.
Across the Humanities, Abercorn students explore the world around them and their place in it. By understanding the impact of the past and the environment around them, Abercorn pupils develop a sense of curiosity and wonder.
At Abercorn School, we believe that language acquisition, fundamental to thinking, communication and self-expression should permeate all aspects of our curriculum and are proud to offer French as a second language.
Physical Health and wellbeing is an important part of life at Abercorn and our pupils enjoy a range of in school sports as well as competitive fixtures and after school activities.
