  • No, please wait until the child is born to submit a registration to the school as we do not accept applications before birth.

The child's birth certificate and passport/visa (where applicable) will be required to complete the application.

  • Abercorn welcomes children to join the school from 2.5 years of age in our Nursery, which offers Half day or Full day sessions. From Pre-Reception all pupils attend a full day. Reception is compulsory school age in the UK.

Lower School is our main point of entry, with occasional places being taken up at various other stages of the school journey. Once enrolled at Abercorn School your child's place is secure for all following years.

Use our year group chart to see which year group your child is eligible to join, and when they can start.

  • We are pleased to offer English as an Additional Language (EAL) to all pupils who would benefit.

Entry into Nursery, Pre-Reception and Reception is non-selective and therefore a child's level of English is not a factor in the admissions process

All applicants looking to join the school in Year 1 and above are required to sit an entry assessment. The child's level of English and the support they may require will be reviewed before the offer of a place can be considered.

  • Yes, as a licensed sponsor under the Child Student route Abercorn School is authorised to issue Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to enable international applicants to apply for their Child Student visa.

A CAS can only be issued once an offer has been accepted and a deposit received to secure the place.

  • You can check which Year Group your child would be placed in based on their date of birth by reviewing our handy Year Group Chart.

  • It depends upon the nature of the needs, and each case is considered carefully.

When considering the cases of children with specific learning difficulties, our criteria are the answers to the following: Will the child flourish in our school and will the child impede the learning of the others in the class?

For more information see our Learning Support Policy.

  • Financial Aid is available for any eligible pupil joining from Pre-Reception to Year 8 and places are awarded at the discretion of the Bursaries Committee.

Abercorn offers a 5% discount on school fees for the 2nd child and any further siblings of a family joining the school.

  • Though we are happy to accept applications on a rolling basis, early application is always recommended and offers are subject to availability and current admissions requirements.

Typically, we make offers 2-3 terms in advance of enrolment.

Entry into Nursery, Pre-Reception and Reception is non-selective and no formal entry assessment is required, therefore places are offered in registration date order.

Considering this, we recommend registering at your earliest convenience, as this will increase your chances of securing a place at Abercorn.
