Queens College Prep School Hockey Tournament

Sports Fixtures

On Monday 6th March, the Year 5 Hockey Club girls went along with their reserves, Aleena and Leila from Year 4, to Paddington Recreation Ground to compete in a hockey tournament hosted by Queens College Prep School.

The team have made fantastic progress so far this year and thoroughly enjoyed the matches they played. Abercorn won all their matches and made it into the final against North Bridge House’s A team. After a very tense and close game North Bridge managed to get the winning goal in the final minute of the match.

Although being younger and smaller than the rest of the team the Year 4 girls held their own in their first competitive tournament and played very well.

The highlight from the day was during the match was against St. Paul's where Abercorn scored 3 impressive goals - Sophia got the first goal in and then Phoenix managed to get two more past their defence.

Phoenix was a great center forward and was supported by Mila in midfield, the girls worked extremely well together and showed excellent sportsmanship. Abbey and Maya were brilliant defenders who stood strong and didn’t let a goal in any of the first 4 matches.

Sophia and Catherine said "We all tried our very hardest and we are really happy with the result!"

A very well done to the Hockey Team for a superb performance!
