ISA National Swimming Championships 2018
The ISA National Swimming Championships were held at the London Aquatic Centre on Sunday, 21 January 2018. It was the 4th year that the championships were held at this iconic venue, and people still talk about what a special setting it is, particularly because of the events that were held there for the Olympic Games in 2012.
This year 9 children from Abercorn School qualified to represent London North at these championships, 3 more than last year! Omar, Barnaby, Sofia, Leonardo and Jamal had been there before, but it was a first time for Elisa, Ivor, Karl and Adrian. Well done to all of them for making it to Nationals!
Notable performances included a 4th place finish for Elisa in the Year 4 Girls backstroke and 4th place for Omar in both the Year 7 Boys butterfly and freestyle races. Our 2 medalists from last year, medalled again this year! Leonardo had to work hard for his win, finishing only 3 hundredths of a second ahead of second place! Sofia, currently in Year 6, was called on to assist the Year 7 girls representing London North in their freestyle relay, as their team was incomplete. The girls did well to hold on for the silver medal. Many congratulations to all!
